A FORMER Warrington Wolves winger is celebrating nearly 20 years as a successful businessman in the town.

Today Team is based on Taylor Business Park, and is a same-day freight courier service, and it was started as a one-man business 18 years ago.

That one man operator was Jamie Boyd, former winger for Warrington Wolves.

In 2006, Boyd, from Great Sankey, experienced a career-ending knee injury at the age of 24 and had to hang up his rugby boots for good – having played for both Wolves and Crosfields.

Since then, with the help of the Prince's Trust (which was established by the then-Prince of Wales in 1976), he has grown a business from a one-man operation into a multimillion-pound business in the heart of Croft.

Jamie said: "Even a tiny business can excel.

"And then you just keep on, doing the right things, time after time."

Today Team has shown no signs of slowing down, either, as it continues to invest in its technology and in its people.

The company continues to recruit top talent, and its management structures and methods have been designed with support from human resources specialists.

Jamie added: "Doing the right thing matters.

"It’s not always easy but we enjoy the challenge, and our loyal client base certainly appreciates it."

The key to the company's success, Jamie says, is going the extra mile 'every single day.'

As per the company: "Today Team provides secure, reliable and fully insured same day, dedicated and freight forwarding services to clients ranging from SMEs to blue chip companies in the UK, Europe and across the globe."
