A NATIONAL pet store will be opening its first store in Warrington this month.

Jollyes is coming to Winwick Road on May 27 – but there’s a twist.

Two alpacas, Ted and Chewy, from Woodland Alpaca Farm in Thelwall will be officially opening the store.

They won’t be alone as the Jollyes team, consisting of 10 members, will also be joined by the real Felix the Cat mascot.

And weather permitting, the pet retailer will launch its ‘jumbo pet’, a giant airship that will be raised 150ft to celebrate the opening.

The first 100 customers on the day will receive a free goody bag and every customer over the weekend will have the chance to spin Jollyes’ iconic ‘wheel of fur-tune’ to win prizes.

A face painter will be there and stilt walkers will entertain shoppers to finish off the day.

On May 28, Jollyes will be joined by the Warrington Animal Welfare team who will be raising money for their work to care for the town’s pets.

“We’re starting work today getting the store ready for opening next week,” said regional manager Sarah Farrar.

“We’re looking forward to bringing the kind of value and service that’s already available at our nearby stores in Runcorn, St Helens and Eccles to the heart of Warrington.”

Warrington’s new store, which is the retailer’s 90th in the UK, will provide pet owners with access to both Jollyes’ raw and frozen food as well as high-quality private label pet food such as its own Lifestage, K9, and Riley brands.

A community pet clinic will run each Thursday from June 1 and vet-supervised dog and cat vaccinations in the clinic will start at just £14 while rabbits will cost £13.

Microchipping will also be available at the store.

The opening day will begin on May 27 from 10am and the alpacas will be available from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Jollyes will be based at Unit 1 on Winwick Road.
