A BURST water main in Walton has led to flooding and queues as United Utilities work to fix the issue.

Chester Road in Walton is the site of floods and inchworm traffic after a water main burst has filled the road.

Warrington’s Own Buses addressed the situation this morning, tweeting the below:

A frustrated motorist whose commute was disrupted said the water level was like ‘nothing she had ever seen’.

She said: “Water was gushing out of drains and flowing like a river down Chester Road. The water was so deep, only one vehicle could go through at a time.

"I was a bit worried that my car might cut out and get stuck. We had to drive quite slowly through it.

Warrington Guardian:

"The water was running back into the gardens of homes on the side of the road too.

There was a long tail back of traffic – as far as Manor Park in Runcorn and to the bridge in Moore for traffic heading to the motorway.”

United Utilities have two vans of workers on site currently, looking to fix the issue.

Warrington Guardian:

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “Our teams are on site dealing with a burst water main on Chester Road in Higher Walton.

“A road closure is currently in place, and we apologise for the disruption to journeys.”
