A BUSINESS based in Warrington has made a donation worth almost £3,500 to a primary school's new project.

Ingevity UK, which is based in Lower Walton, has made a donation of £3,450 to Woolston CE Primary School's 'Forest School' project.

The company has been based in Warrington since 1974, and specialises in the manufacturing of materials that will be used in the creation of resins, coatings, elastomers, adhesives and bioplastics.

Ingevity made the donation in April, as part of the company's IngeviCares programme where they donate a portion of revenue and volunteer time to local communities.

Woolston CE Primary School’s Forest School provision was developed to encourage children to increase their confidence and resilience as they learn to manage risks, problem-solve and explore the natural environment.

Sarah Dillon, headteacher at the primary school, said: "A Forest School is a child-centred learning process which embodies our school values of perseverance, service, truthfulness and friendship.

“This would not have been possible without the support of the IngeviCares funding.”

IngeviCare committee member Filiz Hopkins said: "Ingevity’s mission is to purify, protect and enhance the world around us, and we are excited to support an initiative that allows the children to enjoy some hands-on experience in a woodland environment.

"Ingevity is committed to supporting education and [we] appreciated the opportunity to meet the teachers and children who will learn more about science and nature through the Forest School.”

The Warrington-based company was recently the recipient of government funding, to the tune of £2.6million in order to help cut emissions.
