A CHARITY based in the centre of Warrington has started a supper club which provides free hot meals to vulnerable people each week.

Warrington Day Service, which is operated by the charity Making Space, has opened a supper club on a Thursday evening.

The club aims to provide a welcoming atmosphere that is open to anyone who needs it.

As well as providing free hot meals every Thursday evening, there are staff members on hand who can also give confidential advice.

The club is designed to be a safe space for those who are living with mental health difficulties - whether they are experiencing them for the first time, or whether they have pre-existing conditions that have worsened.

Kerry Paighton, manager at Warrington Day Service, said: “The cost of living crisis is causing real hardship and anxiety for many Warrington residents and is affecting people’s health and wellbeing.

“Many people are experiencing poor mental health for the first time, while others are experiencing a worsening of their existing condition.

"By coming along to the supper club, they can enjoy a hot meal, make new friends and access support and information."

Kerry added: “We’d particularly like to reach new people who don’t currently attend the day service.

"Everyone is welcome and they’ll find a friendly, welcoming space with people to talk to, activities to take part in and connections to lots of other groups in the community.”

Each week, those who eat at the supper club get to vote for the menu choices provided the following week.

The supper club, which is funded and supported by Warrington Borough Council and Warrington Voluntary Action, will offer a warm, friendly and safe environment for people to make new connections and receive support and information.

This service is free, and no referral is required - however, as numbers are limited, those interested to attend are advised to call Warrington Day Service on 01925 652204 to ensure availability.

Warrington Day Service's supper club can be found at 44 Allen Street on a Thursday evening between 5-8pm, and is running until May 25.
