HERE is your first look inside a new McDonald’s restaurant which opened in the town this morning, Thursday.
The drive-thru venue welcomed customers through its doors for the first time today after opening on the new Omega retail park off Whittle Avenue.
Following significant investment from a local franchisee, the single-storey restaurant offers dine-in and take-away services, as well as delivery, and click and collect.
The fast-food outlet will be open between 6am and 11pm, seven days a week.
McDonald’s says the venue will create around 100 new full and part-time jobs for the area.
The restaurant will feature table service, self-ordering kiosks, a large outside patio area and a drive-thru lane with smart digital drive-thru menu boards.
With consumers increasingly looking for greater speed, efficiency and choice when ordering their food, the McDonald’s boasts the chain’s ambitious ‘Convenience of the Future’ programme.
The latest technology will create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers, such as less congestion around touchscreens and shorter queues.
There will be a dedicated courier waiting area and entrance and a new kitchen design, helping staff to serve more quickly, efficiently and accurately.
Work began last summer to build the retail park, which will be home to a McDonald’s restaurant, Lidl supermarket and Costa Coffee shop when complete.
Permission for the development as a whole, on land formerly occupied by RAF Burtonwood airbase, was granted in February last year by the council’s planning committee.
The Lidl supermarket will have a floorspace of 1,900square-metres, while the Costa outlet is also set to include a drive-thru lane and al fresco seating.
The existing McDonald’s restaurant at Gemini Retail Park is only around a mile away, while the closest Costa is roughly half a mile away at Odeon Westbrook and the nearest Lidl store is located off Pink Eye roundabout in Sankey Bridges.
