THE Stockton Heath community has taken part in a number of commemorative projects to mark the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee year.

The project, which took place earlier this month, was endorsed by the chair of Stockton Heath Parish Council Pam Todd.

First, an oak tree was planted on Mill Lane Field, also known as the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Field, in a short ceremony earlier this month.

In dedicating the tree, Cllr Todd said: “This tree has been planted on behalf of the residents of Stockton Heath to honour Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee and will form part of the Queen’s Canopy of trees across the UK which mark Her Late Majesty’s seventy years of dedication and service to this nation.”

Next, St Thomas’ Church of England Primary School planted a Rowan tree which was provided by the school and also forms part of the Queen’s canopy.

And a bench was also dedicated to Stockton Heath Primary School. The school is currently making improvements to the playground and pupils chose the bench to provide them with a space to sit and chat.
