A PIZZA Hut outlet in Warrington has announced a shock temporary closure this week.

Pizza Hut has confirmed to the Warrington Guardian that the store, found in Latchford, has temporarily closed.

The branch in question is one of the company's Pizza Hut Delivery huts, meaning that it does not have a restaurant associated on-site.

Following a report that the store had closed, the Warrington Guardian contacted Pizza Hut directly, with a spokesperson confirming the closure, though more details were not given.

When questioned about a potential closure, a Pizza Hut spokesperson told the Warrington Guardian: "We will be temporarily closing our Warrington South Pizza Hut Delivery in Latchford.

"We'll be able to share more information in due time.

"In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy our signature-flavoured pizzas by ordering from the nearby Pizza Hut located on Winwick Road."

According to Google, this branch of Pizza Hut Delivery is listed as 'permanently closed.'

The Latchford branch of Pizza Hut Delivery has not been without its controversies of late, with one family ordering vegetarian pizzas and being served items with pork products - which was a major cause for concern, given the customers were Muslim.

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian at the time, the customers said: "Being a Muslim, consuming pork is one of the worst sins you can commit.

"We have no space for forgiveness, and now we feel violated."

Before adding: "The kind of blunder they made by serving a non-vegetarian pizza with pork to a Muslim family is morally and ethically wrong.

"They have contaminated our family and our house."

At the time, Pizza Hut did not deny the claims made by this family, with a spokesperson saying: "We have been made aware of an issue with one of our delivery orders at our Latchford Hut.

"At Pizza Hut, providing the best experience for our customers is our utmost priority, so we are currently investigating this matter and working closely with the customer and Hut to resolve this."
