WITH temperatures dropping to freezing and snowfall expected to continue over the weekend, some of you may be looking for a tasty curry to warm you up on these frosty nights.

We have put together a list of the top ten Indian restaurants in Warrington according to Trip Advisor.

1. Lalkilla, Orford Lane

Top of the list and located in Orford, Lalkilla is rated 4.5 stars and was awarded ‘travellers choice’ for 2022.

A recent review from last week stated it to be ‘the best Indian restaurant in Warrington’ with recommendations of the chicken madras and chicken pathia as the some of the best dishes on the menu to try.

Another recent five-star review said: “Food was top quality as always despite the kitchen being busy with takeaways, too.”

A final review titled ‘best Indian around’ recommended the king prawn samber curry.

“This is the best samber ever. It never changes. It’s a credit to Ron the owner and the chef. We will never go anywhere else.”

2. Cardamon, London Road

Coming in second place with 4.5 stars is Cardamon, located in Stockton Heath.

The stylish restaurant gets raving reviews, with one as a recent as last week stating that it ‘lived up to expectations’.

“Service is really friendly and efficient. Food is superb quality - and generous portions. Brilliant value. “It was our first time here but won't be our last.”

A five-star review from January labelled the eatery as ‘The best Indian restaurant ever’.

“This is by far the most fabulous Indian restaurant you will ever visit, the restaurant is breath-taking and the staff can’t do enough, the food is the best I have ever eaten, all freshly cooked with the best ingredients you must visit amazing.”

They have a vast range of traditional curries, as well as delicious seafood and fish dishes, with the salmon in bhuna sauce said to be ‘outstanding’.

3.  Bombay 8, Charon Way

This little gem in Westbrook was rated third best Indian in Warrington with 4.5 stars again.

A review from two weeks ago stated the food to be ‘outstanding’ and the service to be ‘11/10 always’.

Another reviewer who has been going to the restaurant for years said the staff are brilliant and attentive.

“Feel like family when I’m there, been going for years, it is the best curry restaurant in the north west, wonderful.”

Recommendations include the tandoori mixed grill, butter chicken and the best onion bhaji’s around.

4. Monpura, Walton Road

Monpura in Stockton Heath comes fourth in our list with 4.5 stars on Trip Adviser.

Recent reviews all come in at 5 stars with one from last week describing the restaurant as ‘best Indian ever’ and stating the food to be ‘unbelievable’.

“My favourites are the Showdesh and East Bengal. Staff are so friendly and helpful.”

The Bangladesh-inspired cuisine is faultless according to raving reviews with it being a popular place to visit for a birthday or nice occasion.

Also with the added bonus of being able to bring your own alcohol to drink.

Another recent review said: “We love it here. We've tried all of the Indian restaurants in the area and Monpura is by far the best.

“We've been eating here since it first opened and have always had excellent food and service.”

“The King Prawn Delight is indeed a delight, the hot, sweet and sour chicken dish is really tasty, everything we've had has been the perfect. Try something different and you won't be disappointed.”

5. Eastern Revive, West Avenue

Another 4.5 star rating, Eastern Revive in Stockton Heath is a favourite with locals.

Stated by many reviewers as the ‘best place to eat in the village’ its praising feedback speaks for itself.

One reviewer said: “All outstanding. I already knew it was the best restaurant that id tried in Stockton Heath, but when my kids where brought the free ice-cream (I didn’t know it - but kids get free ice-cream) they also pronounced it the best restaurant in Stockton Heath also.”

Some recommendations from the menu include the chicken bhuna, tandoori butter chicken and mixed vegetable korma.

Another review said: “We can't recommend this place enough, from the food to the service, you'll struggle to find a better Indian restaurant in Warrington.”

6. Cinnamon Lounge, Sankey Street

Cinnamon Lounge has been rated 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor and has the stamp of approval in Warrington.

A recent reviewer from out of town claimed to have been served the ‘best curry I’ve ever eaten’ after ordering the butter chicken on the menu.

The review said: “The restaurant spacious, leaves me wanting to return to Warrington asap for a repeat experience. What a treat to find flavoursome, individually created curries instead of the usual formulaic sauces/dishes. A truly five-star Indian restaurant.”

Another five-star review said they were ‘blown away’ by their experience and that the ‘the lamb chops are to die for’.

7. The Raj Culcheth, Common Lane

Sticking to the theme, The Raj Culcheth was also scored a total of 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor and is ‘the best Indian restaurant for miles’ according to one reviewer.

The top review says: “A great place. Fantastic food, great service. You are always made to feel welcome.
“People come from miles around to eat at the Raj and it's obvious why.”

The cuisine is described as ‘fresh’ and ‘tasty’ is a perfect atmosphere for families.

Some recommendations from the menu include Sikh kebab, chicken shashlik, chicken jalfrezi and chicken madras.

One review said: “We have been coming to this place for the last fifteen years, we have seen it change and grow, it is consistently excellent.

“The food is excellent. The service is excellent, the staff are attentive, friendly and focused. We are very lucky to have this place on our doorstep. Great for takeaway too. Highly recommended.”

8. Anmol, Warrington Road

Rated four stars on Trip Advisor, Anmol curry house in Penketh is last but definitely not least in our list of best Indians in Warrington.

Providing both takeaway and eat-in, the food has been described by reviewers as ‘amazing’ and the atmosphere as ‘lovely’.

One reviewer said: “This was my first visit, and I am definitely going to return. The food was amazing, staff were very welcoming.

“Lovely atmosphere, great service and value for money. Also has car park at the back. Would highly recommend.”

On Sundays they also put on a buffet of dishes so you can help yourself and try as many different things as you like.
