COMEDIAN Adam Hills was verbally savaged by Saints fans during an appearance at a rugby match.

St Helens took on Castleford last weekend, and Hills was in attendance covering the match for Channel 4.

In the comedian's own words, he was subjected to 'the world's largest heckle' by the Saints supporters.

The entire 500-strong away contingent of Saints fans began chanting anti-Wire phrases at Hills, who plays for Warrington Wolves Physical Disability Rugby League side.

Revealing the incident on Channel 4's The Last Leg, Hills said: "I was covering the rugby league for Channel 4 in Castleford, where I had to contend with the world's largest heckle, as 500 St Helens fans taunted me - and me only - by singing w**** w**** w**** Warrington."

On the day, Hills could be heard acknowledging the incident to the rest of the punditry team, saying: "I'd just like to shoutout the Saints fans here for shouting anti-Warrington chants at me!"

The comedian later said: "Considering what they could've come out with, we'll take that!"

Adam Hills' The Last Leg co-host Josh Widdicombe replied to the heckling incident, saying: "They're stood right in your face, there! They really meant it."

Widdicombe joked: "They hate you!"

Hills jibed back: "One of my best mates was in there, and I could see him shouting at me!"

St Helens went on to beat Castleford Tigers 24-6.
