THE nation’s favourite on-screen property experts are helping a family in Warrington ‘love it or list it’ in this week’s episode on Channel 4.

Presenters Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer help couple Sarah and Jabz from Thelwall decide whether to uproot their lives or stay put in the show which airs on Wednesday, 1.

For those who have never seen it, the pair play devil’s advocate helping to weigh up whether a couple should put their house on the market or invest money into the property instead.

In the episode, Jabz is comfortable and attached to their four-bedroom semi-detached house and explains his love for the area and the ‘community’ that they are surrounded by.

While Sarah is growing tired of the lack of space and storage that their home currently has and hopes for an extra bathroom when looking at new properties to potentially purchase.

Filming for the episode in Thelwall began before Christmas and local joiner Jay Oliver featured on the show, carrying out most of the changes suggested by Kirstie to improve the look and feel of the property.

A self-employed joiner for more than three years, Jay was given a call by one of the show’s producers to get involved in helping the family achieve their vision, with them working on a tight budget.

“I thought that one of my mates was winding me up at first when I got the call,” Jay laughed.

“I was there to build bespoke storage units. It took three weeks in total, working on site every day.”

Jay said how he was given recommendations by Kirstie which he then worked on and began by measuring up the property.

Overall, he built more than 20 units to be fitted in the conservatory, living room, hall and attic room.

After pricing the job up he detailed that the homeowners were then given the total price that they then paid for the work to be done.

Speaking of his experience of being on the show he said: “It was good, something different. The crew were really good.

“I dealt with the designers and the researchers mainly.”

Jay was sadly not able to meet Kirstie and Phil during his time working at the property but since featuring on the episode he has seen demand for work rocket.

“It has gone crazy ever since,” he added. “I have advertised since the filming finished and since the air date was advertised and I am now booked up until May or June time because of the filming.

“I have never been this busy.”
