COMMUNITY groups in Croft and Winwick have received hundreds of pounds in recognition of their dedicated work.

Funds from Freedom Fibre - a broadband provider - have been granted to two community groups in response to their dedication and hard work in their respective areas.

Croft Village Memorial Hall and the Warrington Sunday Litter Team have been recognised by Freedom Fibre's 'Freedom Fund' panel.

The panel was designed to allow funds to be made available by community groups in order to support them as they continue to provide services to their communities.

Specifically, the fund is targeted at supporting community groups participating in environmentally friendly practices.

The Freedom Fund was launched in October 2022, and will re-open again later in 2023 to provide support for an even greater range of community groups.

Neil McArthur, Freedom Fibre’s chief executive officer, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we have been able to make awards to these two worthy causes.

"Playing our part in the communities in which we are working is so important to us – I can’t wait to see these projects come to fruition!"

Croft and Winwick are nearby one of the areas being targeted by Freedom Fibre for the rollout of its fibre optic broadband.

Croft Village Memorial Hall is the location of a number of different community events, including Christmas parties and fairs, as well as raffles, art shows, and craft events.

Warrington Sunday Litter Team has been recognised for its vital work in cleaning up communities around the town, and in particular in Winwick and Croft.
