A FITNESS class bringing together women from all walks of life kicked off its first session at Live Wire.

Launched as a group exercise class for beginner levels of fitness, This Girl Can promises to bring fun and laughter to the sometimes-strenuous commitment of keeping fit.

Sessions range from dance fitness and box fitness to yoga-inspired stretch.

Now a national campaign, This Girl Can focuses on celebrating the achievements of women who are active inclusive of all body types and fitness abilities.

The slogan for the no-pressure programme is ‘where getting it wrong is totally alright’.

So, if you’ve got two left feet or have never done a push up in your life but fancy a go, these classes might be the one for you.

As well as gaining confidence and improving fitness, the sessions also offer an opportunity for women to build new friendships.

The atmosphere aims to be comfortable with attendee’s surrounded by a ‘supportive community of women’ who are all there to ‘encourage and motivate each other’.

Kev Forester, commercial director, LiveWire: “This Girl Can is all about what you can do and not about the things that get in the way.

“We’re inviting everyone to join in and do their worst, no matter how new you are to exercise, or how long it’s been since you last took a class or visited a leisure centre.

“You’ll be joining classes with like-minded people from all walks of life, and no judgement. Come along and try it out – there’s no right way to do it – just do it!

“Take a positive step to being more healthy and active on your terms.”
