A WESTBROOK brewery which left fans gutted when it closed has announced it will once again open its doors.

Twisted Wheel Brew Company, established in October 2019, sadly shut up shop in December after feeling the hit of the cost of living crisis.

The business, run by the Dearman family, was based on Europa Boulevard in Westbrook.

They battled through lockdown in 2020 with the introduction of craft beer cans, the sales of which kept the company going.

However, with constant rising prices throughout the period of financial difficulty for the hospitality and catering industry, the company became impossible to manage.

The company hoped it would be able to make a return in the future however, and to its delight, as well as fans of the brewery, it has revealed that it will be opening once again soon.

Posting on social media, head brewer Anthony Barrett said: “I literally poured my heart and soul into the business during one of the hardest times the country, and our industry, has ever faced.

“I could not stand to see it go, especially given all the support we have had from all you lovely people.”

Thanks to financial help from some friends, the company will be able to continue to brew its much loved beers.

A local brewery will allow Twisted Wheel to rent out the kit needed to get back to brewing the craft beers.

Customers will be happy to see the return of favourites such as Sunday Sessions, Technicolour Beat with some brand-new types of beer such as Friday Vibes.

To begin with, the business will start small to allow it to grow gently before it gets back to serving all the customers it did before.

Anthony added after the news broke: “I want to say a huge thank you for all the support and well wishes we have had. The response has been phenomenal.”
