Warrington Borough Council have released their guidance after a rise in flu and Covid-19 cases nationally.

The council has put out guidance regarding parties over the festive period, warning people to be careful not to increase the spread.

They tweeted out saying “Planning to party? Spread some festive cheer – not your germs. If you’re not feeling well, stay at home and avoid close contact with others if you can.”

In the NHS guidance they shared regarding Covid-19, they have encouraged people to book vaccination boosters.

In the case of both flu and Covid-19, the NHS recommend staying at home if you display any symptoms.

To reduce the spread of flu, the NHS have stated people should:

  • Wash your hands often with warm water and soap
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
  • Bin used tissues as quickly as possible

Whilst to reduce the spread of Covid-19 you should:

  • Get vaccinated against Covid-19 – book vaccination appointments now
  • Meet people outside if possible
  • Open doors and windows to let in fresh air if meeting people inside
  • Limit the number of people you meet and avoid crowded places
  • Wear a face covering when it's hard to stay away from other people – particularly indoors or in crowded places
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day
