ALDER Hey Children's Hospital is set to benefit from the money raised by one street that has trimmed itself up for Christmas.

Cross Farm Road in St Helens has been decorated for the festive season with the hope to fundraise for the children's hospital.

The display is put on an annual basis by residents of the street, who hope to give something back to such an amazing cause.

Michelle Lever started the Christmas tradition for Alder Hey Children's Hospital back in 2008.

Speaking to the St Helens Star last year, Michelle said: "I've collected decorations for the house since 2008 and it's just about spreading Christmas joy. My granddaughter loves it."

"It's just our way of thanks to Alder Hey for everything that they do, and they've been really appreciative of our effort."

This year, Michelle told the Warrington Guardian: "Tesco and Morrisons have both donated sweets for us to hand out, which we're so grateful for.

"We do this - me and my son - to say thank you to the hospital for saving his life when he was a young child.

"All the others in our family help our way to give something back."

Michelle said that the display is hoping to raise around £500 for the children's hospital which works tirelessly to save and improve the lives of children across Warrington, St Helens, Widnes, and across the country.

Santa is also at the display every day from 6.30pm until 8pm, which allows children to meet the man himself.

The lights display is switched on until 10.40pm every day until Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24.

Michelle Lever's Christmas display for Alder Hey Children's Hospital is at Cross Farm Road, St Helens, WA9 3FF - the lights are on until 10.40pm until Christmas Eve, with Father Christmas appearing every evening between 6.30pm and 8pm.
