DEDICATED pupils and teachers from a primary school in Burtonwood have received praise in the form of an award for their hard work in helping to develop the school’s grounds.

Children and staff at St Paul of the Cross Catholic Primary School spoke of their ‘pride’ when they were presented with the ‘Woodland Trust Gold Award’.

The joint effort from the school to improve its green space over the years to allow pupils to begin their outdoor learning was recognised by the Woodland Trust, a national conservation charity.

Mr Jones, Forest School lead, said: "The award has shown how amazing our school truly is.

“The Forest School leaders, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Leather, have adapted learning so that every child can achieve their best when in Forest School, which is something we pride ourselves on here at St Paul of the Cross.”

“Every child in our school wants to make a positive difference to our school environment and beyond and we are excited about their ideas to plan future projects to support our school and local community,” She added.
