CHRISTMAS has come early, as Warrington will be taken over by a winter wonderland this weekend.

On the 26th and 27th of November, Warrington town centre will have a full set of activities, ranging from funfairs to Christmas carols and even an appearance from Father Christmas.

Saturday November 26

Saturday’s events will be opened up by a funfair and swing grill in Time Square from 10 am going on all day, as well as Christmas Artisan Markets situated throughout Warrington running from 10 am to 7pm.

As well as this is a series of School and Community Christmas Choir performances taking place in Golden Square at the following times:

10am - Cinnamon Brow School
11am - Barrow Hall School
1pm - Wired for Sound choir
2pm - St Phillips C of E school
3pm - Penketh Primary school
4pm - Warrington Youth Zone choir
5pm - St Thomas school

Further, there will be a return of the popular At No.25 art installation by Culture Warrington. Artists Erica Wilkinson and Lauren Muir have created a “festive Nordic inspired space” in a twist on last year’s highly acclaimed Christmas exhibit. Find it next to Costa in Golden Square.

If, however, you want some informative fun for the whole family, there will be a lantern making workshop for free on the Chester University campus in Time Square.

With your newly made lantern you can then go through Warrington town centre and find Father Christmas, as Santa Claus will be going through the town between 1:30 and 6 pm and will be parking his sleigh so kids can take a photo with him and his reindeer.

This will then be followed by an amazing display, as Brazilian Katumba drummers will be travelling through Warrington Town Centre from 4:30pm.

The day will then be capped off with a spectacular After Dark, Light and Sound show at Warrington Town Hall. Running every 15 minutes from 6pm till 9pm, the We Are Warrington website says that “the bespoke animation produced by Culture Warrington has been specially designed for Warrington by Double Take Projections, and will fit perfectly into the stonework of the Town Hall.”
