ALDI stores in Warrington have announced their closure for Boxing Day 2022.

This will mark a rare two-day period of closures for the stores across the town, as the sites will be closed for Christmas Day and now Boxing Day, too.

ALDI announced the closure of stores across the country in order to reward its staff for all of their hard work.

Because of this, staff will enjoy two days of the store being closed over the festive period.

There are four ALDI stores across Warrington, and all four will be closed on Boxing Day 2022.

The stores are:

  • Walton Road, Walton
  • Birchwood Shopping Centre, Birchwood
  • Liverpool Road, town centre
  • Chiltern Road, Winwick

Since first opening in the UK over 30 years ago, ALDI has never opened on Boxing Day, which means December 25 and 26 2022 will honour that tradition.

ALDI has said that its stores will remain open until 6pm on Christmas Eve, and in-between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve the majority of its stores will be open from 8am until 8pm - with stores closing at 6pm on New Year's Eve.

Kelly Stokes is the director of UK recruitment for the supermarket chain, she said: "Our amazing colleagues play a vital role in keeping our shelves stocked year-round which is why, once again, we’ll also be keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day as a thank you for all of their hard work.”

ALDI stores will also be closed on January 1, too.

The chain's website says that stores' opening times may change depending on the site, so it is advised that shoppers double-check opening times over the festive period.

Warrington's four ALDI sites are set to be open until 10pm in the run-up to Christmas Eve, as an extension to their usual opening hours, before closing at 6pm ahead of the big day.
