TWO Warrington restaurants have been recognised for the quality of their food by winning a prestigious national award.

Both San Lorenzo and Tao have scooped a Good Food Awards 2023 blue ribbon in the latest competition, in the restaurant and takeaway categories respectively.

Located in the Treasury building on Palmyra Square, San Lorenzo brands itself as providing ‘exceptionally authentic Italian dining’.

Its contemporary open-plan dining room also boasts an open kitchen, where chefs freshly prepare Neapolitan pizzas before being baked in a feature wood-fired oven.

Restaurant diners can also indulge in authentic pasta dishes, made using only the finest ingredients, or fresh fish and seafood, which are always included on San Lorenzo’s extensive menu.

Meanwhile Tao, which you can find on Padgate Lane, was recognised in the takeaway category, while also boasting an impressive eat-in area.

It came top of the shop in the Warrington Guardian’s ‘Best of’ awards this year, being named as the town’s best restaurant, as voted by readers.

This is no doubt due to its tastebud tantalising Cantonese cuisine, which includes crispy shredded beef coated in a Cantonese sauce, speciality dim sum and deluxe prawn toast, with so much prawn filling that it is difficult to see the toast.

A spokesman for the Good Food Awards said: “Founded on independence and integrity, we have been delighting our readers and fans since 2002.

“Our unique awards recognise those who strive for culinary excellence within their field.

“Chosen for their food quality, service and value, our Good Food Awards are bestowed upon those with high customer ratings or votes and are known as the blue ribbon for delicious dishes.

“Some premises will appear in our awards regularly. They must earn their place by maintaining the same high standards that gained them initial entry.”
