MANY people will feel the full impact of the cost-of-living crisis this winter with several already having to choose between having a hot meal or heating their homes.

To help those in need this year, libraries ran by LiveWire in Warrington are now opening their doors to offer a safe warm space to anyone who needs it every day of the week.

Time slots will be allocated per day where anyone is welcome go in, get warm and have a hot drink for a few hours.

A LiveWire spokesperson said: “This response is part of the national Warm Welcome initiative, which aims to provide a warm welcome to everyone so that no-one is left alone to face the challenges of the coming winter as fuel bills soar.”

The ‘Warm Welcome Initiative’ is a campaign set up to support communities across the UK in helping make sure there are ‘warm’ and ‘welcoming’ spaces available to people, with many churches, businesses and libraries signing up to offer their help to the cause.

Rachel Ralston, Strategic Library Manager, said: “Warm Spaces is designed to signpost anyone in need of warmth, to a warm space to share with others.

“We wanted to get involved with the initiative to help support the community with free, warm, safe places for people to come to when they need it the most.

“Every Warm Space in our libraries is a non-judgemental space; whatever the reason you have for needing to come in, you'll be treated the same and never judged.”
