A NUMBER of businesses were celebrated at the annual Warrington Business Awards, which took place on Thursday, October 20.

The black-tie event took place at the Mere Golf and Country Club, in Knutsford.

Nominations for the awards were collated over the summer, before the main event and presentation of the awards.

A number of charities were involved in the event, including the River Reeves Foundation and the Shannon Bradshaw Trust.

Tickets for the coveted event were Β£100 apiece, and the event saw the presentation of 11 awards.

Categories included awards for businesses of all sizes, as well as for environmentally-friendly businesses, and for community initiatives.

The trophies for award winners this year were made by students at Priestley College, and the event was officially launched in June, when nominations for awards opened.

  • New business of the year - Mamars at the Old Bank
  • Employer of the year - Pennington Choices
  • Community initiative of the year - Lymm Sanctuary Hub and Business Centre
  • Green award - Golden Square
  • Apprentice of the year - Shadia Newall, Voicey & Co. Accountants
  • Businesswoman of the year - Michelle Laithwaite, Fuel Hub
  • Businessman of the year - James Laithwaite, Fuel Hub
  • Lifetime achievement award - Stuart Middleton, Chair of Warrington Wolves

The panel of judges included local MPs Andy Carter and Charlotte Nichols, as well as representatives from Priestley College, Warrington Disability Partnerships, and Warrington Town FC.

This year'sΒ awards ceremony was hosted by BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe.
