MORE landmarks have been revealed which will proudly feature on Warrington’s very own Monopoly board.

The town has landed the honour of its own customised Monopoly game after seeing off 19 other places across Cheshire.

It is the first location in the county to receive the honour, and a ‘big reveal’ launch event will be held today, Tuesday, at Walton Hall and Gardens.

One landmark which will feature is the soon-to-be-demolished Fiddler’s Ferry power station in Cuerdley.

The famous cooling towers will adorn one of the utility set, with Lymm Dam making a splash by appearing on the water works square.

Next door to Old Kent Road – the board’s most affordable square – on a community chest space will be Warrington Foodbank.

At the other end of the board, the Golden Gates will be unveiled as the ‘Mayfair of Warrington’ as the game’s top ranked square.

Other Warrington landmarks featuring include Warrington Transporter Bridge, Warrington Wolves, Walton Hall and Gardens, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, Victoria Park, the famous Pink Eye building and many more.

“It is a board celebrating Warrington’s past and present, and a game very much reflecting the times,” said Jennifer Lau, from producer Winning Moves UK.

“We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this unique game together.”

Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jean Flaherty says she is excited to see what has been included on the Warrington edition of the iconic game and praised Warrington Foodbank for its inclusion.

“David and the team at the foodbank do a fantastic job supporting people across the borough to access the food and help they need,” she commented.

“They provide a vital service, helping families in need during challenging times. They are very well thought of in our community, so it is a great honour to see them take up a square on the board.

“I look forward to seeing which other landmarks and organisations will be joining them.”

A delighted David McDonald, CEO of Warrington Foodbank, added: “Warrington Foodbank is thrilled to be chosen to appear on the Warrington Monopoly board.

“The charity is well established in Warrington as a helpful community supporter dealing with families in need, distress, and crisis.

“We are able to help all families regardless of income who find themselves in a period of hardship. “

Other charities as well as the foodbank will also feature in the game, including St Rocco’s Hospice and The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation.

The Chance and Community Chest cards and money are themed too, while one card sends players back three spaces for getting stuck in traffic on the Thelwall Viaduct.

Another rewards players for their best nostalgia photo taken of the iconic former Mr Smith’s nightclub, which was a magnet for youngsters to flock to Warrington.

The Warrington Guardian also takes pride of place in the traditional red Fleet Street spot. And to celebrate, we have got 20 copies of the game to give away - pick up a copy of Thursday's Guardian for your chance to win one.

Over the last 25 years Winning Moves UK and Hasbro have produced official versions of Monopoly in places all over the world, from Sydney to Dubai – and now Warrington.

Monopoly: Warrington hits the shops at 10am this morning, and it will be available at Waterstones, WHSmith and extensively online, including on Amazon and Booghe.
