MOTORISTS driving along the M62 in Warrington will have seen an enormous structure taking shape.

The massive warehouse is the newest addition to the Omega business park.

When it is finished, it will be home to discount giant Home Bargains.

Work is underway to build a new distribution centre for the business, which is planned to bring more than 1,000 jobs.

As part of a three-phase development at Omega West near Burtonwood by Miller Developments, ground preparation started earlier this year on unit one, which is to be occupied by the Merseyside-based firm.

Home Bargains, which has more than 570 stores across the UK, boasts an annual turnover of more than £3billion.

The unit is close to The Hut Group and Royal Mail hubs, although this plot is partly in Warrington and partly in St Helens.

David Milloy, managing director of Miller Developments, said: “Omega has already brought significant benefits to Warrington since we first broke ground 10 years ago.

"Omega West now offers an opportunity to deliver meaningful economic and social benefits to St Helens.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with Cllr McCauley and his colleagues to realise them.”

Two more warehouses will also follow on the stretch of land.
