WALTON Hall and Gardens has cancelled its planned outdoor screening of the musical Grease.

The screening was due to take place tomorrow, Friday, September 30, but has been postponed due to bad weather forecasts.

Instead, the screening - announced following the death of Olivia Newton-John - will take place in May next year.

The event was supposed to be a fundraiser for local charity St Rocco's.

All tickets purchased for tomorrow's screening have automatically been transferred to the new date - which is Friday, May 19, 2023.

Refunds are available upon request via Eventbrite's website.

Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council cabinet member for leisure and community said: "Following the forecast of severe weather conditions all day tomorrow, we have taken the difficult decision, in conjunction with the team at St Rocco’s, to postpone tomorrow night’s outdoor cinema event.

“The health and safety of our customers is our number one priority and we want to ensure everyone who has purchased a ticket enjoys the full experience that the Walton Hall and Gardens has to offer."

Cllr Higgins added: "Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather that is currently predicted, we feel it is unfair for our customers to go ahead with the event as planned.

“We hope many people can join us on the new date to enjoy a night of cinema under the stars within Walton’s beautiful grounds, all while helping a hugely important local charity.”
