Runcorn featured on Strictly Come Dancing 2022

The town was featured as the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Will Mellor met his professional partner, Nancy Xu.

"So, this is Runcorn and I spent a decade here," he said in a videotape.

"It just seems right that I am here to  meet my pro."

Will, who spent many years in Runcorn while filming the sitcom, took his new dance partner on a tour after meeting her with a shot of the Silver Jubilee Bridge in the background.

Locations such as Weston and 'The Archer' - previously known as the Waterloo but now where Wat Phra Singh UK stands - were featured.

And the pair even went for a quick dance at Halton Castle.

Will, who starred as Gaz in the noughties sitcom - was the first contestant announced for this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Talking on tonight's show he told host Tess Daly how his wife Michelle, a former dancer, has given him a tip - not to make 'the stink face' he often pulls while dancing.

"It's like when I dance my hips are connected to my lips and I pull this weird face," he joked.

"She said that won't get you any votes."
