A CARE home in Warrington has been mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen after she tragically passed away last week.

St Oswald's is based in Winwick, and its residents have been heartbroken at the passing of the late monarch, after 70 years on the throne.

Members of staff at the care home got in touch to share messages from the residents to mark the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

Jill Mumford said: "The passing of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a profound loss for the residents.

"We have given them support and time to reflect on her extraordinary life and long service in the variety of activities we offer."

Many residents at the care home remember when Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne, in 1952 - and the coronation in 1953.

Manager of St Oswald's Care Home, Ria Percival, said: "As we mourn the passing of Her Majesty, her reign has been a beacon to so many in uncertain times - a guiding light throughout her reign.

"On behalf of everyone here at St Oswald's, we send heartfelt condolences to her family and the nation she faithfully served over seven decades."

Her Majesty The Queen passed away at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, on Thursday, September 8.

A minute's silence is being held nationally on Sunday evening, at 8pm, to mark the life and legacy of the late monarch.
