A POPULAR village pub says that ‘exciting times’ are ahead for customers following a six-figure makeover.

Hydes Brewery has revitalised Wheatsheaf Inn in Lymm, investing £150,000 in the building to cover an extensive revamp.

The refurb at the pub, which was originally acquired by Hydes in 1906, includes a complete interior refurbishment, a new bar build, new signage and a revamped exterior beer terrace and seating area.

The current food offering features an array of dishes to suit all tastes, including comforting pub classics, grills and burgers. Traditional roasts with all the trimmings are also served every Sunday. 

As well as quality food and drink regular live music is also on the cards, with live acts booked every Friday and a £50 bar tab draw taking place every Saturday.

Sister pub The Jolly Thresher, just 200 yards from the Wheatsheaf, recently unveiled a £400,000 new look, signalling Hydes’ commitment to upgrading its establishments in Lymm.

These latest refurbishments form part of an ongoing multi-million-pound investment programme of the brewer’s estate over the next two years.

Sarah Rees was appointed general manager in April and has successfully overseen the Wheatsheaf refurbishment programme thanks to more than 17 years of experience in the pub trade.

She said: “This is an exciting time for the Wheatsheaf, having just undergone a major refurb and looking the best it has for years.

“I am relishing the opportunity of managing the team and working closely with Hydes to extend a warm, inviting country pub welcome to all customers.

“We are looking forward to trying new things, and the feedback we have received already from regulars and visitors to the new look and feel of the pub has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Hydes, with its brewery in Media City, was formed in 1863 and supplies beers to wholesalers, pub companies and other brewers throughout the UK.

It also has a pub retailing estate of more than 40 pubs across the north west of England and north Wales.
