Bridgewater High School students are ‘reaping the rewards of resilience’ after receiving their GCSE results today.
After what has still been a turbulent few years for secondary education following the effects of the pandemic, spirits were extremely high at the Appleton school as students piled out of the school doors this morning with their long-anticipated results in hand.
Many students achieved exceptionally high grades, one being Roisin McGrath who came away with all 9s.

She said: “I am very happy with my results, I found the exams very stressful.”
Roisin will be moving on to Sir John Deans college to study biology and chemistry.
She added: “I want to go into dentistry in the future.”
Other high achievers included Oliva Divall who got straight 9s across the board, Holly Barker achieving six 9s and two 8s, Lincoln Lau who achieved five 9s and 2 8s, Jess Harper who got four 9s and four 8s and Jack Williams who achieved four 9s, two 8s and a 7.
Grace Bromley will be celebrating with her family this evening after receiving her results of six 9’s, two 8’s and a 7, going on to Priestley College to study chemistry, biology and psychology.
She said: “I’m pleased with my results; I found the exams hard but not as bad as I expected. I want to be a vet in the future, I love animals.”
School head, Keiron Powell, described his students as ‘a credit to themselves, their families and our school’ as he expressed enormous pride for their hard work and achievements.
He said: “After two years of turbulence and disrupted learning, Bridgewater students have demonstrated one again why we continue to be proud of their resilience, stamina and commitment, as they receive, they receive a set of strong GCSE exam results today.”
He added: “This performance is a rooted in the joint efforts of the whole school and community.
“At a time when society has experienced hardship, Bridgewater High School students have rolled up their sleeves and overcome the many obstacles put in their way. They have attended well, studied and flourished.
“On behalf of everyone here at Bridgewater High school, I would like to wish our students all the best in their next stage of education and I have every confidence they will continue to thrive.”
