A REPORT has been made to police regarding the removal of fixtures at two units in Time Square.

It comes after fittings were ripped out in both the Gravity and Newton’s premises, located within the town centre leisure complex.

Photos taken of the Gravity unit on August 8 showed the removal of the trampoline park and ‘Ninja Run’ obstacle course fixtures.

The same can be said of Newton’s, with bar fittings, tables and booth seating also absent.

The venues, which only opened in October 2020 and October 2021 respectively, are linked and share the same owner.

The websites and social media pages of both businesses say they will be ‘temporarily closed’ due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

Bosses were said to be considering the next steps to take next following the surprising events, with it being suggested that the removal of items could be raised with the police.

There was a consideration as to whether the removal of items constituted a criminal act.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police has now confirmed that the force did receive a report on August 7, adding: “At this stage, it appears to be a civil matter.”

The units were emptied without the knowledge of the firm, with the Warrington Gravity site being the only one in the country to be run on a franchise basis.

The Guardian understands that Warrington Borough Council, as the landlord, is not owed any rent and is in legal discussions over the matter.

Newton’s restaurant and bar offered an interactive and social venue, including darts and pool in a games area, serving cocktails alongside a New York themed menu.

Gravity meanwhile was a kid’s paradise, with 70 interconnected trampolines on the ground floor, as well as a giant inflatable obstacle course upstairs.

A statement was fixed in the window of the Gravity unit addressed to ‘all Gravity Warrington customers and staff’.

It read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances outside of the main company’s control, the park will be temporarily closed while Gravity works hard to re-establish the capacity of its Warrington venue.

“Gravity is supporting all staff while the site is closed and is committed to its Warrington venue, and all the team there.

“Although disappointing to be closed during the summer holidays, when so many families are looking to entertain their children, Gravity has contacted those people affected to apologise for the inconvenience, and to resolve this and issue refunds.”

Michael Harrison, co-founder of Gravity, added: “We are committed to supporting the staff on site and opening the venue, so families and kids can get back to their summer plans and enjoying some fun family time.”

On the day that news of the developments arose, a council spokesman said: “As the landlord, we are in discussions with the franchisor about the current situation.

“We are unable to comment any further at this stage.”
