THIS is how a car garage located along one of Warrington’s busiest roads will look going forward.

Plans submitted to Warrington Borough Council by Volvo regarding the former Rybrook Jaguar dealership on Winwick Road have been approved.

It comes after permission was granted in September last year for a garage building on the site, which is accessed via an entrance on Silver Street, to be demolished.

Jaguar closed the dealership last July, with customers told they would have to travel to Liverpool to access the next nearest Rybrook branch.

The Volvo garage which shares the Silver Street site will remain open and continue to operate from one of the buildings, which will be extended.

This latest application which has been approved relates to signage.

Light-up signs highlighting the Volvo badge and Volvo Selekt used car brand will be installed on the walls of the building, along with an illuminated pylon sign at the entrance.

Glass signage will be mounted to the building to inform visitors of opening hours, while a totem style sign will detail which areas are designated for customer parking.

In addition, the proposal includes flag poles and smaller signs to designate spaces for disability vehicles.

The Jaguar garage was the second dealership to close on Winwick Road in recent years.

Lookers closed its Vauxhall branch across the road in 2018, and this has since been replaced with a self-storage facility.
