A CULCHETH mum is hosting a bone marrow 'donor drive' to help save her friend's son's life.

Holly Pirrie, who is a former Culcheth High School student, has organised the event that will take place on Saturday, August 20, 10am to 2:30pm, at the British Legion in Culcheth.

The donor drive is being held in order to help find a bone marrow match for Holly's friend's son, Dillon.

Dillon is three-years-old and has been battling leukaemia for two years.

Heart-breakingly, Dillon has relapsed and is in desperate need of a bone marrow donation in order to save his life.

Dillon's mum, Amy, only learned of his leukaemia returning in the past two weeks, and now has two months to find a bone marrow match.

Holly said: "As a mother, I can only imagine what Amy may be going through and consequently, a group of us have gotten together to help.

"Knowing that she went to school in Culcheth, I wanted to make it as easy as possible for people who were in the local area to have check if they were a bone marrow match."

Anyone could be a potential bone marrow match for Dillon, as long as they are between 17 and 55 years of age.

Holly is urging people to attend the drive on Saturday, on Wigshaw Lane, as testing for bone marrow compatibility is quick and easy to do.

She said: "It is a simple swab that’s non-invasive and any supporters will then be added to the bone marrow register."
