MORE unauthorised caravan encampments have been set up on green space across Warrington.

A group of travellers have pitched up on land off Kingsway North in Howley, close to the roundabout junction with Farrell Street.

Seven caravans have set up camp along with associated vehicles after arriving on Friday, breaching anti-encampment stumps on the roadside.

This is according to an unauthorised encampment log for Warrington and Cheshire run by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The log states that an officer from Warrington Borough Council is due to attend the council-owned land today, Monday.

Four caravans and towing vehicles have also pitched up on Crab Lane playing fields in Padgate after arriving on Saturday.

Warrington Guardian:

Again, a council officer is due to attend the council-owned land today.

In addition to this, seven caravans and associated vehicles set up camp at Burtonwood Services off the M62 last week.

Meanwhile a group of travellers who set up an unauthorised five-caravan camp on Victoria Park in Latchford more than a week ago were given permission to remain temporarily due to a health issue.

A review is also overdue regarding a seven-caravan camp on the overspill car park at Orford Jubilee Hub.

Travellers arrived back on July 26 and were given permission to remain until last week.
