Warrington Guardian Best of 2022: top eight cafes

How about if you feel like a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake?

Which café or coffee shop would be your number one destination for a spot of lunch or to catch up with friends while you enjoy a hot drink?

Since we launched our Best of 2022 competition in April, we’ve found the best places that Warrington has to offer in 14 different categories.

We’ve celebrated the town's best hair, nails and beauty providers as well as the best pub and beer garden, fitness instructor, independent shop and place for children with awards for pies, fish and chips, breakfast, afternoon tea, pizza and roast dinner also being handed out.

Next up we wanted to find Warrington’s best cafe.

After reading all your nominations, we’ve shortlisted the top eight, who will battle it out to be named Best Cafe 2022.

Now we need your help to choose an overall winner from our shortlist.

Don’t forget to pick up a copy of this week’s Warrington Guardian as the coupons inside count for five votes!

There are three ways to vote:

1. Search for the Best Of post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook or Instagram pages and comment under the post with the name of your winner = 1 vote

2. Name your favourite in the comments section on this article via our website = 2 votes

3. Purchase a copy of this week’s Warrington Guardian (August 11 edition) and fill in the entry form = 5 votes

Voting officially opens today, Thursday, and closes at midnight on Monday, August 15.

Gourmand Café, Sankey Street, Town Centre

With fresh baguettes made from scratch and croissants each weekend, it’s easy to why this town centre venue is so popular.

The cakes and desserts are “amazing” and the sharing platter is a “real treat” and the authentic French food is not to be missed.

Heritage Café at Walton Hall and Gardens, Walton Lea Road

This dog friendly café provides a warm welcome for everyone with customers enjoying the afternoon tea with leftovers to take home.

The café can found in the heritage courtyard at Walton Hall and Gardens where customers can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

With two venues, Zalo’s has double the delight offering English and Turkish food.

Nominations said it’s “a great place with great staff” and “the best brunch around”.

One nomination said: “They serve the best breakfast – delicious and always freshly made.

“The sandwiches and superfood salads are great.”

One review on their Facebook page says they went to Woodys with “an extremely fussy eater and there wasn’t one complaint”.
