MORE than 900 fun runners have raised thousands of pounds for one of Warrington’s best loved organisations.

Gulliver's World theme park and resort in Old Hall organised the colourful event to raise much-needed funds for St Rocco’s Hospice.

Participants, who were invited to run, walk or toddle the route, while taking in the park’s thrilling rides and attractions, raised £4,545 for the Bewsey-based charity.

From every £15 entry, which included theme park admission, £5 was donated to St Rocco’s, which provides free care 365 days of the year for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Craig Clews, resort director at Gulliver’s World, said: “Our annual fun run is a great way to support charities in the Warrington community, and we know all about the vital work of St Rocco’s.

“The fun run was a fantastic day – it was wonderful to see so many runners and their families, and we were able to raise an impressive amount to support St Rocco’s.”

Karen Rutherford, corporate and community fundraiser at the hospice, added: “Thank you to Gulliver’s World for organising a brilliant event, and to the 909 runners who took part.

“It costs St Rocco’s £4.5million a year to provide our palliative care for free to the people of Warrington, so events like this are so important to raise much-needed funds.”
