A SERIAL offender with a long list of criminal convictions has been banned from entering west Warrington at night by the courts.

Leon Sherratt is also prohibited from wearing any head or face coverings near homes or commercial properties such as shops.

The 37-year-old was handed a criminal behaviour order after appearing at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The court order aims to tackle the most serious and persistent offenders whose behaviour sees them hauled before the courts.

A number of conditions are attached to Sherratt’s criminal behaviour order, with proceedings sought following the Whitecross man’s last conviction.

This came at the end of April after he targeted parked cars in the Great Sankey area with a view to stealing their contents.

From one of those vehicles, Sherratt, of Whitecross Road, stole a wallet and bank cards, which he then used to buy groceries and tobacco, as well as play the lottery.

He was jailed for 18 weeks on April 30 over charges of theft from motor vehicle, three counts of vehicle interference and two of fraud.

The defendant’s criminal behaviour order lasts for three years and prohibits Sherratt from entering west Warrington, as defined by a map, between 8pm and 8am, except to travel on the A57, M62 and railway.

He is also banned from associating with three named individuals in Warrington between 8pm and 8am.

A further condition of the order is to restrict him from wearing any head or face covering when entering the boundary of any residential property, not including his own or his family, in Cheshire.

The same condition applies when entering the boundary of any Cheshire commercial property, including paths, driveways, car parking and indoor or outdoor stores.

A final condition bans him from being in possession of any bank card, credit card or store card that is not in his name without written permission across Cheshire.
