CHILDREN at a nursery in Great Sankey are supported by ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘motivated’ staff, say Ofsted.
Dunky’s Day Nursery, on Barrow Hall Lane, was rated ‘good’ following a visit from inspectors.
The report highlighted the activities on offer at the nursery and how they were also educational.
It said: “Staff weave mathematical concepts through children’s play and experiences.”
Ofsted representatives noted the fact that children are taught the importance of health at the nursery.
They stated that as a result of the staff’s teaching, the youngsters ‘develop a positive attitude to their physical health’.
‘Enthusiastic and motivated’ staff at the Great Sankey site also impressed inspectors.
“Staff have an in-depth awareness of the action they would take should they have concerns about a child's welfare,” the report reads.
“They confidently describe the possible signs and symptoms that may indicate a child is suffering from harm.
“Leaders require all staff to refresh their training regularly to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain up to date. Staff have a strong knowledge of how to keep children safe.”
Inspectors said this leads to children who behave well, follow instructions and show ‘great maturity’.
