AN arrest was made after a person was allegedly threatened with a taser last night, Friday.

It was one of a number of arrests made by Cheshire Police in Warrington as officers worked to keep residents safe.

The reported taser threat came during an affray incident, with other people being arrested in the town for domestic offences.

A man was caught by police for allegedly being double the drink drive limit on Birchwood Way, while police used stop and search powers to deal with people carrying illegal drugs.

In an update, the force’s Warrington Police team last night said: “Officers are with you on nights this weekend. So far tonight, we have made several arrests.

“One male was arrested for drink driving after he blew double the legal limit on Birchwood Way, and another was arrested for affray after allegedly threatening someone with a taser.

“Several have also been arrested for domestic-related offences.”

A later update added: “Officers are also in the town centre this evening keeping people safe.

“Our officers are proactively using stop and search powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act to search those suspected of carrying illegal drugs.

“Several people tonight have been dealt with by out-of-court disposals that aim to deter further drug use and educate those that use illegal substances of the dangers.”
