WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the immediate signing of Australian full-back Matt Dufty.

The 26-year-old had agreed to join the club for next season but have been granted an early release by NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs, he has penned a two-and-a-half year deal with The Wire.

Dufty is due to fly to the UK this weekend and will be eligible to make his debut when Daryl Powell’s side travel to Huddersfield Giants next Saturday.

> A potentially exciting signing but not one without questions - assessing the signing of Matt Dufty

β€œThe opportunity to come over to Warrington and test myself in Super League is an exciting one,” Dufty said.

β€œFrom my conversations with Daryl (Powell) the way he wants the game to be played is something that I feel can really suit my game.

β€œMy best footy is still in front of me and I’m excited to showcase what I can do in England in front of the Warrington fans.

β€œIt’s a challenge I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to rip in now for the Wolves.”

The speedster has long since been linked with a move to The Halliwell Jones Stadium after it became clear his future lay away from the Bulldogs.

Having joined them from St George Illawarra Dragons for this year, he started the NRL season as the team's first-choice full-back but was dropped to reserve grade last month and has not featured since Round 12.

His NRL career to date has seen him score 45 tries in 94 appearances.

Dufty's now-former Canterbury teammate Paul Vaughan will join him at The Wire next year, as will his ex-Dragons colleague Josh McGuire.
