POLICE have warned motorists caught shouting ‘wise words’ at a driver who crashed this afternoon, Tuesday.
Officers were called to the scene of an accident, believed to be near junction eight of the M62 for Burtonwood, which saw a grey Vauxhall Insignia collide with a metal road barrier.
While Cheshire Police accepted that accidents happen, they slammed the actions of passing motorists who shouted ‘you can’t park there mate’ at the stuck vehicle and driver.
Although this may seem like jest, according to officers, by doing so, ‘rubber-necking’ drivers were taking their eyes off the road and almost caused further crashes.
Posting on social media, the force’s Warrington Police team said: “You can’t park there mate – these are the wise words of many other motorists who decided to rubber-neck at this RTC.
“Now I’m fairly sure that the unlucky driver of this vehicle is fully aware of where he can park. Accidents happen.
“But what doesn’t help is people taking their eyes off the road to rubber-neck, and in this case have a quick sly dig at the driver of this car.
“These drivers were also very close to causing another accident through sheer madness. Thankfully, there were no injuries on this occasion.”
