THE best rated GP surgeries in Warrington according to the patients that use them have been revealed.

The results of the GP Patient Survey 2022 have been published this morning, Thursday, after 9,214 questionnaires were sent out to patients at surgeries across the town.

A total of 2,911 were returned completed, demonstrating a response rate of 32 per cent.

The GP Patient Survey measures patients’ experiences across a range of topics, including making an appointment, access to online services and out-of-hours services.

Fairfield Surgery was named the best in Warrington according to patients, with an overall approval rating of 88 per cent.

Where seven surgeries had approval rates of above 90 per cent overall last year, none achieved that milestone this year.

In fact, only nine surgeries scored 80 and above compared to 18 in 2021.

At the other end of the table, Chapelford Primary Care Centre was graded 35 per cent in terms of overall approval rate – a collapse of more than half from a rating of 79 per cent last year.

Stockton Heath Medical Centre, which sits one place above Chapelford, received a score of 60 per cent.

The national approval rating across England for 2022 is 72 per cent – a considerable fall from 83 per cent last year, showing issues facing the health sector as a whole.

Seven Warrington surgeries fell below this mark – namely Chapelford, Stockton Heath, Penketh, Four Seasons, Latchford, Birchwood and Folly Lane.

Overall, 74 per cent of Warrington residents were happy with the experience they received from their GP surgery.

In terms of getting through to a staff member on the phone, which has been a widely reported problem, Warrington’s top performing surgeries in Fairfield and Dallam Lane came out on top, with 91 per cent of patients saying this was ‘easy’.

Only 10 per cent of patients at Stockton Heath said it was 'easy' to get through to someone over the phone, followed by 13 per cent at Chapelford and 14 per cent at Penketh.
