ASDA is playing its part to combat holiday hunger.

The supermarket will be offering children 16 and under the opportunity to have a hot or cold meal during the summer holidays for £1.

The initiative starts on July 25 and continues until September 4 as long as the café is open.

Meals can be bought every day of the week and there is no minimum spend requirement.

After being rolled out in Scotland last month, it has been extended to England and Wales.

The three ASDAs in Warrington providing the offer are:

  • ASDA Warrington Superstore, Cockhedge
  • ASDA Westbrook Superstore,  Westbrook Shopping Centre, Cromwell Avenue
  • ASDA Birchwood Superstore, Dewhurst Road, Birchwood (only takeaway)

Baby food is also part of the new initiative, with young ones able to enjoy a free pouch of Ella's Lithcenbabty food in local Asda Cafes.

An Asda spokesperson said: “We know that families can find the summer holidays tough, and our customers are telling us that this year more than ever, they’re concerned about holiday hunger.

"With that in mind, we are so pleased to be able to offer children’s meals for just £1, with no minimum adult spend, to ensure that those who would normally rely on a school meal aren’t left without.”
