PRIESTLEY College has announced that direct buses to the site will be free to all students.

This will come into place for the next academic year and has been introduced in order to help families deal with the cost of living crisis.

In addition to the free services, Priestley will also provide a bus pass to any students who receive a bursary so that those most in need will be able to use other services between their home and college.

“We’ve decided to fund these services to help families deal with the cost of living and because we believe a young person’s education should not be restricted by financial circumstances,” said head of marketing and communications Adam Bird.

“As a college we have always worked hard with local travel providers to offer subsidised services where possible, but realise the next year could be particularly difficult for everyone.”

Students from the following areas will be able to travel to Priestley for free:

•            Helsby / Frodsham P1

•            Runcorn / Widnes / Penketh P2

•            Winwick / Culcheth / Birchwood / Padgate P4

•            Irlam / Cadishead / Hollins Green P5

•            Golborne / Lowton / Newton-le-Willows / Winwick P6

•            Weaverham / Cuddington / Northwich / Great Budworth P9

Replying to the news, one parent said: “Fantastic news. Thank you. My daughter will be starting in September.”

While one student said: “Ace, this will save me two Warrington annual bus passes.”
