THE Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association's President's Cup reached its conclusion on Friday.

Monk Sports stage the last eight, from an original entry of 32 players, and the final was won by St. Oswalds' Dave Bennett.

He defeated Irish Club's Peter Maddocks 21-14 in the decider.

Bennett had a smooth passage through to the final, beating Alan Noon (Alford Hall) 21-11 and another Alford Hall player, Kyle Chapman, 21-12 in the semi-final.

In the other half of the draw, Maddocks, who was the only non-Section A player in the last eight, easily accounted for Chris Ure (Alford Hall) after some excellent corner play.

In the semi-final, Maddocks came up against last year’s winner Duncan Wright (St Oswalds) and with his +2 start on the card, raced into an 11-0 lead.

Wright fought back well to trail 12-14 but Maddocks regained the initiative and ran out to win 21-14.

Bennett picked up £120 for his victory and Maddocks £60 for being runner-up.
