WARRINGTON Borough Council has had its say on plans for Neighbourhood Weekender 2023.

The 2022 festival, which took place last month, welcomed more than 26,000 people to Victoria Park.

My Chemical Romance also performed on the Friday evening and 19,000 fans attended.

And now the council is evaluating the impact of the festival ahead of its return in 2023.

While there were a small number of complaints regarding noise, car parking and taxi issues, the number of complaints was lower than previous years.

The evaluation group will continue to meet to consider issues such as road closures.

During the event, there were also very few calls made Cheshire Police and the general feeling was that this year’s event was the best one yet in terms of enjoyment and organisation.

The council will continue to meet with SJM Concerts and other partners regarding next year’s event.

Warrington Borough Council’s chief executive, professor Steven Broomhead MBE, said: “Neighbourhood Weekender is now a major feature in the calendar, like many other events that take place across the borough.

“The 2022 festival was very well organised and produced significant economic and reputational benefits for our town.

“We will take all the lessons learned from this year’s event into our planning for the Neighbourhood Weekender 2023.”
