Smith Drive was closed while the fire crews dealt with the incident
A BUSY Orford road was closed in both directions yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, following a house fire.
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire that involved the side of house on Smith Drive.
The road was closed just before 4pm while the fire crews dealt with the incident and people were advised to avoid the area.
Two fire engines – one from Birchwood and one from Stockton Heath – attended the scene and checked the loft space of the house with a thermal imaging camera.
Everyone was out of the property upon the arrival of firefighters.
The fire is believed to have been started by a nearby chiminea.
Crews were at the scene for around an hour before the road was reopened.
