TWO Cheshire retailers have scooped a regional title in the Countryside Alliance's third annual Best Rural Retailers competition.
Davenport's Farm Shop in Bartington, Northwich, won Best Local Food Retailer and Grantham's of Alderley Edge won Best Village Shop/Post Office.
These companies will now represent the best of the region as they vie for a national title in a final to be held at the House of Lords.
The competition was devised as a way of celebrating the skill and produce of retailers who work so hard to keep rural life ticking.
Run across 12 UK regions, this year's competition received more than 2,500 nominations.
Lead judge Barry Henderson, regional director for the Countryside Alliance, said: "This competition aims to celebrate the people as well as the produce and these two retailers represent the character and dedication needed to add value to a community.
"I am delighted to recommend Davenport's and Grantham's to our national judging panel."
