IT proved to be a busy night for police officers in Warrington last night, Saturday.

The town centre was busy, with many festivalgoers visiting bars, pubs and clubs following the end of the first day of Neighbourhood Weekender.

Many revellers were also out for some standard weekend fun, while others crowded around TV screens to watch the Champions League football final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

While the majority were well behaved, police did have to make some arrests after predicting a ‘busy night’ beforehand.

This included a mother and daughter, who were arrested on suspicion of assaulting police, racially aggravated public order and being drunk and disorderly.

Another arrest involved a 20-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker.

Providing updates through the night, Cheshire Police’s Warrington Police team said: “Officers are in and around Warrington town centre this evening providing a visible presence.

“It is set to be another busy night around the town. Have fun and stay safe.”

A later update read: “Officers have arrested a mother and daughter for assaulting police, racially aggravated public order and being drunk and disorderly. Know your limits.

“A 20-year-old male has been arrested in the town centre for assaulting an emergency worker.”
