POLICE have made an arrest at Neighbourhood Weekender after reports that event staff were assaulted.

The popular music festival began yesterday, Saturday, with thousands of festivalgoers set to descend on Warrington this weekend.

Yesterday saw well-known acts performing such as Courteeners, Becky Hill and Example.

However, officers from Cheshire Police had to arrest a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.

She was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, as well as of being in possession of drugs.

Today will see acts including Blossoms and Kasabian performing on the stage in Latchford’s Victoria Park.

In an update, the force’s Warrington Police team said: “A 24-year-old female was arrested at Neighbourhood Weekender.

“The female was drunk and disorderly, she assaulted staff at the event and is also under arrested for possession of drugs.”
