A LARGE fire service presence was in attendance in Woolston following a business fire in the early hours of this morning, Sunday.

Six fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath, Penketh and Greater Manchester, as well as an aerial ladder platform from Lymm, rushed to Grosvenor Grange at 1.56am.

It came after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire at a commercial food production building.

The fire is believed to have started within an oven and spread into the roof space above, with all personnel evacuated from the building.

Crews extinguished the blaze by around 3.25am using CO2 extinguishers and dry powder extinguishers.

The number of fire engines in attendance was reduced to three, with the aerial ladder platform and light portable pump remaining to damp down the roof space.

By 6.30am, firefighters left the scene after being satisfied there were no hot spots, having used a thermal imaging camera.
